Nude Diamonds™: A Daring Reinvention of Beauty and Legacy

In a world where diamonds were judged by how colorless they could be, Le Vian dared to ask: What if true beauty lies in the colors nature intended?

This bold question wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about legacy. Le Vian, the self-declared guardian of the jewels, has always pursued a singular mission: to compel every household to own a piece of the world’s most beautiful and desirable jewelry. That mission, rooted in democratizing luxury, has driven Le Vian to seek out rare, single-source gems at the peak of their abundance—knowing that one day, they will vanish, becoming treasures of the past.

After revolutionizing the industry in 2000 with the launch of Chocolate Diamonds®, a move that generated billions in new fine jewelry sales, Le Vian stood at another crossroads. The call came from Rio Tinto, one of the world’s most powerful mining companies and owner of the legendary Argyle Mine in the remote deserts of Western Australia.

In a quiet office in Belgium, the LeVian family was presented with a wooden tray—the run of the mine—a spectrum of Argyle’s diamond production. While Rio Tinto praised Le Vian’s success with Chocolate Diamonds®, they posed a challenge: Could Le Vian work its magic on the remaining 96% of the mine’s output?

Most of these diamonds were too included, too opaque. But Le Vian saw something others didn’t: a sliver of the production—light brown diamonds with high clarity and a unique, thick skin. When cut by master artisans, these stones revealed an extraordinary luster, a brilliance that shimmered with warmth and sensuality.

At the same time, the beauty world was embracing the Nude Palette—a celebration of diverse skin tones and natural elegance. Le Vian connected the dots. What if these radiant, champagne-hued diamonds could become the jewelry world’s answer to the Nude Palette? A more beautiful, rarer, and ironically more affordable alternative to white diamonds?

Thus, Nude Diamonds™ were born.

The test was a runaway success. Le Vian swiftly transitioned from white diamonds to Nude Diamonds™, seizing the moment and creating a new category of luxury. To cement its advantage, Le Vian persuaded Rio Tinto to bypass traditional sight holders, integrating Chocolate and Nude Diamond production directly into its own supply chain. The result? Greater value, fewer middlemen, and millions of new collectors drawn into the world of natural color diamonds.

In 2019, Le Vian declared The Nude Palette its Color Trend of the Year and Nude Diamonds™ its Diamond of the Year. It was a bold reinvention—one that would prove prophetic.

Because the very next year, the world changed.

The pandemic hit. The jewelry industry reeled. Synthetic diamonds surged, and young consumers turned away from natural white diamonds, shaking the market to its core. But Le Vian stood firm. Having already pivoted away from white diamonds, it remained largely immune to the disruption.

Once again, Le Vian had been ahead of its time.

Nude Diamonds

Today, as the industry scrambles to adapt, many are following Le Vian’s lead—embracing natural diamonds with a hint of color to preserve value and meaning. But Le Vian was there first, seven years ahead, with Nude Diamonds™.

More than a gem, Nude Diamonds™ are a movement—a tribute to authenticity, inclusivity, and sensual elegance. They shimmer with the quiet confidence of a brand that has always seen beauty where others saw none. And as Le Vian continues its mission to bring luxury to every household, Nude Diamonds™ stand as a radiant symbol of vision, courage, and the enduring power of natural beauty.
