This year’s annual Red Carpet Revue hosted by Le Vian Jewelry, the premiere fine jewelry company in the world, was an event not to be missed. In the middle of JCK and Luxury trade shows at the heart of Las Vegas, the two hour event was packed with celebrities, high fashion figures, and cutting edge jewelry for days.
ICYMI, We’ll break down all the action right here for you.
High end jewelry retailers, collectors, dealers, and friends of the industry walked the red carpet in style beginning at 4:00 p.m. Bar Paly, star of hit TV show NCIS: Los Angeles and the just released thriller Urge with Pierce Brosnan, conducted interviews with excited guests, signature cocktails in hand. Master of Ceremonies Mario Lopez made an unexpected appearance before the show, and CEO Eddie LeVian was on hand with President Moossa LeVian to take photos with all of the invitees.
As photos were snapped and cocktails served, I had the opportunity to ask some of the dapper crowd why they were there:
“We’re family friends of the LeVian’s for years. We love Eddie! He’s honest, genuine, and very family oriented. We do collect his jewelry, but we love his family spirit.”
-Linda & Steve Lawrenz, Family Friends of the LeVians
“My wife loves jewelry, and I only buy Le Vian now because I know that she is going to love whatever I pick out from them. The craftsmanship and design are there.”
-Jim & Vanessa Hock, Le Vian Collectors
Once the crowd had found their places, television star and Master of Ceremonies Mario Lopez headed to the podium to introduce CEO Eddie LeVian and President Moossa LeVian. Along with Larry LeVian, Chairman, and two sisters, Elizabeth Etessami and Suzy Liviem, they are the second generation of LeVians to run this iconic brand.
Family is at the core of this large and loving company, and a dedication to their father and mother was the first item on the docket. The crowd was told the story of their mother Pary LeVian greeting refugees with meals, and their father Abdulrahim Efraim LeVian travelling to America to found the company in 1950 and passing on sixteen years ago.
Eddie and Moossa LeVian introduced their children: Emanuel Etessami, Jonathan, Lexy, Josh, Jason, and Alexa LeVian, who are all taking on greater roles in the company. They plan on being the third generation of LeVians to take the helm, and they’ve got big shoes to fill. In just 66 years, this company, whose history spans centuries, has grown from a small artisan jewelry operation to one of the most visible fine jewelry companies, with hundreds of high quality lines to suit every style and budget. Each took a turn announcing one of the Trends of 2017:
Gemstone of the Year: Neopolitan Opal
Color of the Year: Blues and Blush
Shape of the Year: Sugarloaf
Design Trend of the Year: Movement
Item of the Year: Wristwear.
After the trends of the year were announced, it was time for a spectacular fashion show produced by Le Vian and Harper’s Bazaar. In a special video message to the event, Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Glenda Bailey termed Le Vian “An unrivalled fashion legacy: always delighting, dazzling, inspiring, and bringing magic to our pages.”
Avril Graham, Executive Fashion and Beauty Editor, gave a presentation on the upcoming looks we can expect to see from the world of Fashion in 2017 while bedecked in Le Vian jewels. We’re excited to see the rich velvets and eastern prints make their way into our lives, as well as a revival of the classic 70’s rock and roll look. Another look, termed “dark romance” gives us a bit of a gothic spin, while naval academy jackets are no longer limited to spring and are keeping us warm through the fall. In jewelry, the surprising new comeback kids are chokers and charms, paired with duster earrings and featuring earthy stones.
Without further ado, stunning models wearing the creations of over twenty cutting edge clothing designers graced the runway. All accessories including jewelry, scarves, and handbags were from Le Vian’s newest Red Carpet and Couture lines.
Andie Weinman, Co-owner of Continental Buying Group, made a fierce and fabulous appearance as a guest model amid thunderous applause from her many friends in the industry.
To cap off the evening triple platinum recording artist, Rachel Platten, performed inspirational music from her latest album, including her hit Fight Song. Many of those in the audience were touched by her humility and grace. While on stage she acknowledged, “I should be cooler about playing a room like this, but not too long ago I was playing shows with 5 people in the audience.” Her story served as yet another reminder of how far persistence and gratitude can take you.
The LeVian’s have not lost touch with the spirit of service and gratitude their mother taught them in her efforts to help refugees. This elaborate event was first and foremost a benefit for Jeweler’s for Children and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The first $150,000 went to Jeweler’s for Children, with all over and above benefiting St. Jude. Le Vian contributed matching funds for all donations to St. Jude. The first donation of the evening was a cool $50,000.
Overall, the event was a great success, with a wealth of information and enjoyment packed into a few short hours. Click the links below to read more about this important event:
